Building a better world

We want to make the world a better place. To always be thinking about the wider picture. That’s why we take responsibility for our impact on the planet; support local communities and always push ourselves to do better.
Take a look below at our four pillars of responsibility.

Our properties

We’ve created robust environmental and social programs to help reducour energy usage and the resources each hotel needs, including but not limited to:-

  • Minimising our use of energy and emissions
  • 100% renewable energy across our properties in the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Hungary and Austria
  • Environmental building certifications in some of our properties (e.g. BREAAM)
  • Detailed climate risk assessments planned for some of our properties
  • 100% Carbon Neutral Meetings & Events
  • Improved waste management practices
  • Working to remove all single-use plastics from hotel rooms
  • Hotels to support biodiversity projects in the local communities

Our local communities

We champion our neighbours and partners in the local area through fundraisers and volunteering, as well as employment and development opportunities. To date, we have:-

  • Created over 1,000 new jobs & apprenticeships
  • Hosted refugees and those in need
  • Regular charitable events & fundraising
  • Local collaborations and support initiatives such as:
    – Just a Drop. When guests opt out of housekeeping, we donate €1 to Just a Drop. Which is a charity that focuses on providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries.- Collaboration with Oma’s Soep where we organize activities and charity events.

Reduce energy, water, greenhouse gases and waste

  • All light bulbs are energy-efficient LEDs, which helps reduce our overall energy consumption.
  • Our showerheads use a maximum of 9 liters per minute to reduce water consumption, without compromising on guest comfort.
  • Shampoo and shower gel products are presented in dispensers instead of small packages to reduce plastic waste.
  • We focus on reducing food waste. For example by using Orbisk to monitor food waste.

Our Suppliers

We encourage and develop long term relationships with our supply chain, to understand and reduce our impact on the environment, human rights, labour conditions and other issues throughout the process.

  • Yearly calculation and reporting of the carbon emissions associated with our supply chain (scope 3 emissions)
  • Working on sourcing policies to improve the environmental and social profile of the products we purchase
  • Our daily cleaning products used by housekeeping have an officially recognized ecolabel, meaning that the product meets strict environmental standards.
  • In our restaurant you will find vegetarian/ vegan options and local products.

Our People

We empower everyone to be their whole selves and feel a sense of belonging, helping promote diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. Our focuses are:-

  • Our Team – ensuring our team are engaged, feel valued and we foster a culture of honesty, integrity and accountability
  • Our Guests – creating places where guests love the energy, create valuable memories and are safe and secure
  • Our Stakeholders – ensuring well-nurtured relationships with our key stakeholders that emphasis fair and mutually beneficial terms

How can you contribute?

  • You can choose to re-use towels by hanging them up.
  • Use your own refillable cup or bottle for coffee and (tap) water to save plastic waste.
  • Explore the surroundings by bike or public transport instead of taxi.
  • If you’re interested in souvenirs, buy this from local entrepreneurs.
